Alain Doucet and Anik Jolicoeur will be coaching Atlanta ballroom dancers at Allegro Dance Studio on March 25, 26, and 27. Sessions should be scheduled well in advance as their schedule is filling quickly. Call the studio at 770-417-3588 as soon as possible to schedule your appointment. This is your chance to study with two of the most brilliant dancers to ever grace the dance floor, and Allegro is pleased and proud to have them visit our studio.
Both started dancing very early in their lives. Alain, coming from a dancing family, began at 8 years old and met Anik when she was 13. Anik, also from a dancing family started dancing at 11. They have been together both on and off the floor for 17 years and were married several years ago.
Anik and Alain have represented Canada at World Championships for the past 16 years. They attended World Championships as amateurs for 8 years in Standard, Latin and Ten Dance. In Amateur Ten Dance, Alain and Anik became World Finalists four times.
They turned professional in 1995 and immediately became Canadian representatives in the professional division, representing Canada in Standard, Latin and Ten Dance World Championships.
Their most outstanding titles have been in the World Professional Ten Dance Championships:
2003 3rd place, Tokyo, Japan
2002 1st place, Düsseldorf, Germany
2001 1st place, Hong Kong
2000 1st place, Le Mans, France
1999 1st place, Slagharen, Netherlands
1998 3rd place, Dortmond, Germany
1997 2nd place, Miami Beach, Florida
1996 2nd place, Dortmond, Germany
1995 3nd place, Aalsmeer, Netherlands
Alain and Anik have, in fact, been the only Canadian couple to attain the number one position at the World level. This is indeed a tremendous accomplishment!
